Russian-American madman who will eat you like Baba Yaga

My name is Nikita (or Nick) and I have too many hobbies to save my life! I started dabbling with HTML in (I think) 2017, but I didn't make this Neocities until 2019. I am a lover of all things language and history, but am also pretty interested in technology.

I'm born and raised in California, but that's about as much as you'll get from me on something as public as a Neocities website. My family came from RussiaOdessa & Chernihiv - at the time, part of pre-revolution Russia about a century ago, however my family (and myself) are still pretty connected to our roots. I'm always open to talking about what I know of my ancestry!

WHAT I LIKE

I collect music as a hobby, both physically and digitally! My digital music library is nearing 50GB, and you can find a handful of my digital (and physical) collection over on Discogs. The biggest sections in my library are Russia and Lithuania. I can generally give you recommendations on artists from either country, but my Lithuanian section is mostly dance/techno/etc, so just know that.

While I don't consider myself a gamer, I do play video games quite often. My favourite to play at the moment is probably Touhou 1, though I'm also a fan of games like Mario Kart and some of the earlier Harvest Moon games. (If you ask me, they've kind of lost their charm since the 3DS...) I'm also a HUGE fan of Mega Man, though I've been neglecting updating that portion of my site for forever. Some games I like that I don't actively play are the original Phantasy Star series. I'm not a huge fan of grindy RPGs, but the shoddiness of Phantasy Star III will always have a place in my heart.

PROJECTS

While this site is kind of its own personal project, I've been translating a lot of music in my spare time and plan to put it all together in some way. The translations page is kind of like that, but now that I have access to a DVD maker, I might make some kind of subtitled video compilation together...

I also have a personal YouTube channel where I post music and whatever dumb shit I decide to post there. I don't share most music I've created, and I've also had that channel since I was 15, so beware for some cringe somewhere in there. I've been meaning to post more Touhou gameplay in the meantime.
